The leader of China will travel to Europe
Xi's visit, the President of China and the head of the ruling Communist Party, is his first to Europe in five years and will "give a new impetus to peaceful development worldwide," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jie at the daily briefing on Monday.

Reportedly, Xi Jinping will begin his five-day tour on May 5 in France, Serbia, and Hungary, which are hoping for Chinese investments.

According to agency sources, French President Emmanuel Macron intends to deepen his personal ties with the Chinese leader during his two-day trip to France and ask him to persuade Vladimir Putin to end the conflict in Ukraine. Macron also seeks to attract Chinese investments in electric vehicle battery production in the country.

Xi's visit to Europe comes a few weeks after US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen visited China, warning of risks to the global economy from China's excess production capacity.
