The petrochemical cluster in the Bukhara district is expanding its operations
Uzbekistan
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Tekhnochem plant in the Bukhara district, where he learned about the petrochemical cluster's operations and plans for its further development.
The advanced processing of natural resources and the production of high-value-added products are key areas of the country's industrial policy. The cluster in the Bukhara district specializes in the processing of oil and gas condensate, naphtha, methanol, and pyrolysis distillate. It is the only complex of its kind in the republic.
The facility occupies 69 hectares and employs approximately 500 people. The complex's capacity allows it to annually process 100,000 tons of pyrolysis distillate, as well as 160,000 tons of naphtha and gas condensate. Along with fuel, this allows it to produce products for the chemical industry. In particular, octane boosters are used to improve the quality of gasoline, while solvents are used in the production of paints, varnishes, adhesives, and household chemicals.
The head of state was briefed on the next stage of the cluster's expansion.
A $292 million investment project is planned for completion by the end of 2028. It includes the establishment of gas condensate and naphtha processing, as well as the production of aromatic hydrocarbons and solvents. As a result, annual processing capacity will increase by another 400,000 tons, creating 700 new jobs.
With the launch of the new facilities, the demand for technologists, engineers, chemists, and laboratory specialists will increase. In this regard, the head of state emphasized the need to strengthen the collaboration between vocational education and production in the region.
The enterprise plans to annually export approximately 180,000 tons of petrochemical products, motor gasoline, and diesel fuel to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and the European Union. In addition, negotiations are underway with foreign partners on a project to process 150,000 tons of liquefied natural gas in 2028-2030.
The President of our country has provided recommendations for increasing the cluster's export potential and training qualified personnel for the new production facilities.
