On July 17, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who arrived in our country on a working visit.
At the beginning of the meeting, the distinguished guest conveyed to the leader of our state the sincere greetings and good wishes of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The parties discussed current issues related to the further development of Uzbek-Azerbaijani strategic partnership and alliance, particularly in the trade and economic sphere.
Last year, trade turnover increased by 15 percent, and since the beginning of this year, the increase has reached approximately 40 percent.
Cooperation projects are being implemented in development, energy, geology, logistics, finance, fuel and energy, textiles, tourism, and other sectors, including through the participation of a joint investment company.
The importance of thoroughly preparing the economic agenda for upcoming high-level meetings was emphasized.
In this context, the results of today's meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council were highly commended. The need to ensure the effectiveness of the planned Forum of Regions of the two countries was also noted.
