The president stressed that the quality of human capital determines a country’s potential, while education and science directly influence its position in the world and economic capacity. Another 101 schools are being built this year. Under the Keleshек Mektepteri national project, 217 modern schools for 460,000 students have already been built, including 84 in rural areas.

Tokayev also noted growing interest among young people in teaching careers. This year, more than 12,000 graduates received state grants for teacher-training programmes, including over 2,000 holders of the Altyn Belgi distinction. Scholarships for students pursuing teaching careers have increased 2.5 times. More than 15,000 teachers were hired in the regions ahead of the new academic year, half of them young specialists.

The president placed particular emphasis on the introduction of artificial intelligence into secondary education. He said AI should make teachers’ work easier and give them more time for mentoring and direct interaction with students. In September, the Ministry of Education approved a Standard for the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Education. Advanced teaching methods and digital platforms are to become available to schools across the country.

Tokayev also stressed the importance of developing reading culture alongside digital skills. He described reading as a “spiritual shield” protecting young people from superficial judgments and the endless flow of information. In May, the president signed a decree on developing reading culture and building a reading nation, while the government is expected to adopt a relevant concept by the end of the year.

Concluding his address, Tokayev emphasized the role of teachers in raising open-minded, educated, law-abiding and responsible citizens. He thanked Kazakhstan’s educators for their work and stressed that the teaching profession deserves the deepest respect.
