Trilateral “Unity of Strength — 2026” Military Exercises Begin in Azerbaijan

Joint military exercises “Unity of Strength — 2026” involving the armed forces of Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan have begun in Azerbaijan. The opening ceremony was held on September 22 at the “Gizilgaya” training center in the Khojavend district.
The exercises consist of three stages and are being conducted at three locations: the “Gizilgaya” training center in the Karabakh economic region, the “Karabakhlar” training center in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and the “Boyuk-Zira” training area in Azerbaijan’s sector of the Caspian Sea.
Personnel, combat equipment, naval and aviation assets, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, are taking part. The stated objectives are to improve readiness for joint operations, strengthen coordination between units, standardize training procedures and enhance practical capabilities.
Preparations began well before the exercises. On July 17, a planning conference was held at the Jamshid Nakhchivanski Military Lyceum, with representatives from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan taking part.
By September 18, Turkish military personnel and aviation assets had arrived in Azerbaijan for the exercises. The official sources did not disclose the number of participating troops or the exact completion date.
At the opening ceremony, representatives of the three countries highlighted the importance of joint training for expanding cooperation between their armed forces, exchanging experience and improving coordination in carrying out joint tasks.
