UN Secretary-General António Guterres has proposed the creation of a $3 billion global fund to support the development of artificial intelligence. The initiative aims to strengthen technological capacity in developing countries and reduce the global digital divide.
Speaking at an AI development conference in New Delhi, Guterres said the fund would help build foundational capabilities, enhance skills, expand data collection, and improve access to computing power.
He stressed that artificial intelligence should augment human potential rather than replace it, and called for technologies that are safe, inclusive, and accessible to all.
