UN Security Council Condemns Iran Strikes, but US and Israel Go Unmentioned
World
The UN Security Council adopted a resolution calling on Iran to stop strikes against Arab countries, but did not condemn the actions of the US and Israel.
Russia had proposed its own resolution calling for an immediate cessation of all hostilities, but it was rejected.
Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, described the vote as a “shame and a theater of the absurd.” He stated that some countries failed to take the only correct decision, choosing instead to follow the lead of the “big brother.”
The resolution drew criticism from Moscow and raised questions about the Security Council’s impartiality in addressing regional conflicts.
