UNESCO National Commissions Convene in Samarkand for the 12th Meeting

The 12th Meeting of UNESCO National Commissions has opened in Samarkand as part of the 43rd General Conference, marking a major milestone for international cooperation. Delegates from across the world are discussing youth policy, sustainable development, and inclusive growth.
The forum was officially opened by Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO, who was also elected Chair of the session.
The event takes place within the framework of the 43rd General Conference of UNESCO, held for the first time outside Paris.
The agenda focuses on key areas of collaboration, including:
- advancing youth policy,
- strengthening partnerships between governments, civil society, and the private sector,
- promoting sustainable and inclusive development.
Delegates from Uzbekistan, Belarus, and other member states shared their national experiences and new initiatives in youth engagement and social inclusion.
Participants highlighted Samarkand’s growing role as a hub of cultural dialogue and global cooperation under UNESCO’s auspices.
