US Stays Out of Ukraine Security Declaration

The United States did not sign the Ukraine security guarantees declaration adopted following the Paris meeting, reports Politico.
Initially, Washington was expected to join the document, but it was ultimately signed only by members of the “willing coalition”, which does not include the US.
According to sources, the final version of the declaration removed references to American participation in the multinational force in Ukraine. The earlier draft stated that the US would support the force in case of an attack.
Earlier, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that the “willing coalition” had agreed on the possible deployment of foreign troops in Ukraine once a peace agreement is reached. He added that Britain and France plan to establish military bases and equipment depots to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the event of a ceasefire.
US President’s special envoy Stephen Witkoff highlighted that the Paris negotiations achieved significant progress on several key issues, including Kyiv’s security guarantees. He also noted that the US hopes for a compromise on territorial issues.
Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner emphasized that the president’s position on Ukraine security guarantees is shaped by his discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He added that the Paris meeting was an important step toward a potential peace agreement.
