Uzbek Referees Named Among Officials for AFC Asian Cup 2027

Six Uzbek match officials have been appointed to work at the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027, which will take place from January 7 to February 5. They will serve as referees, assistant referees, a Video Match Official and a referee team inspector.
Ilgiz Tantashev and Asker Nadjafaliev will officiate matches as referees. Tantashev has previously handled matches in major AFC competitions, including the AFC Champions League, while Nadjafaliev is also part of the AFC’s elite refereeing group.
Timur Gaynullin, Andrey Tsapenko and Bakhtiyorkhuja Shvkatov will serve as assistant referees. Firdavs Norsafarov has been appointed as a VAR official, while Valentin Kovalenko will work as an inspector of the refereeing team.
The Asian Football Confederation has confirmed 76 match officials for the 2027 tournament: 24 referees, 41 assistant referees and 11 Video Match Officials. According to the AFC, this is the largest contingent of match officials in the history of the Asian Cup. Uzbekistan is represented by two referees in the main referee list — Ilgiz Tantashev and Asker Nadjafaliev.
The 19th edition of the AFC Asian Cup will be hosted by Saudi Arabia. The tournament will begin on January 7, 2027, and conclude on February 5. The appointments give Uzbek officials roles across several key areas of match officiating at the continent’s premier national-team competition.
