Uzbekistan and China Expand Transport Cooperation

Uzbekistan and China have agreed to expand cooperation in international transport, civil aviation and logistics. Transport ministers Ilhom Makhkamov and Liu Wei discussed increasing the number of flights and the volume of road freight between the two countries.
The sides also considered creating more favourable conditions for national carriers and improving the efficiency of transport and logistics links. Particular attention was given to increasing flights between cities, expanding flight geography, and developing passenger and cargo air services.
Following the meeting, Uzbekistan and China signed a Protocol introducing amendments and additions to the Agreement on International Road Transport. The document is expected to expand opportunities for carriers from both countries, improve the use of existing transport routes and reduce administrative barriers.
The sides also highlighted the importance of transport cooperation in developing international corridors connecting China with Central Asian countries and other regions. The agreements are aimed at further strengthening transport and logistics links between Uzbekistan and China.
