Uzbekistan and China Launch Joint Research Laboratory for Green Energy

Uzbekistan and China have expanded their scientific cooperation in renewable energy by launching a joint research laboratory. The new facility is expected to bring together researchers from both countries to develop advanced energy technologies, conduct collaborative research and train highly qualified specialists.
The Uzbekistan–China Joint Research Laboratory has been established at the National Research Institute of Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The opening ceremony brought together officials and experts from Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy, representatives of the Government of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China, the Inner Mongolia University of Technology, as well as delegates from higher education institutions and research organizations.
Speakers at the ceremony included Umid Mamadaminov, First Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan; Shi Guanghui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; and Professor Guo Hongfei, Vice President of the Inner Mongolia University of Technology. They emphasized the importance of strengthening scientific cooperation in renewable energy, promoting innovative technologies and developing a highly qualified workforce.
The laboratory was established under the Belt and Road Initiative through cooperation between the National Research Institute of Renewable Energy Sources under Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy and the Inner Mongolia University of Technology.
Its research agenda includes solar, wind and hydrogen energy, energy storage technologies, smart energy systems and artificial intelligence. The partners also plan to establish modern research facilities and implement training programs for highly qualified specialists.
According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy, the laboratory is also expected to contribute to the creation of a Central Asian platform for demonstrating advanced energy technologies, supporting the localization of cutting-edge developments and expanding scientific and innovation cooperation between Uzbekistan and China.
