The document establishes an institutional framework for regular political dialogue, exchanges of views on current issues and discussions on priority areas of bilateral cooperation.
The memorandum was signed following talks between Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and Denmark’s Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, who arrived in Uzbekistan for an official visit on October 2.
During the meeting, the sides noted that Denmark is one of Uzbekistan’s promising partners in Europe. Their discussions covered a broad range of areas, including strengthening political dialogue, developing the green economy and expanding scientific exchanges.
Particular attention was given to economic cooperation. The two sides discussed attracting investment, developing industrial cooperation and advancing joint projects with Danish companies across various sectors. A roundtable involving business representatives from Uzbekistan and Denmark was also scheduled as part of Rasmussen’s visit.
According to the Uzbek side, the new memorandum will enable the two foreign ministries to hold regular consultations, exchange views on current issues and discuss priority areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.
On the same day, Rasmussen was received by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Their meeting also addressed practical aspects of expanding Uzbekistan-Denmark relations in the political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The sides expressed interest in further developing bilateral ties and implementing new joint initiatives. The visit was described as an opportunity to strengthen Uzbekistan-Denmark cooperation and give it new practical results.
