The meeting addressed ways to deepen inter-parliamentary dialogue, improve lawmaking and strengthen parliamentary oversight. The participants noted that the political will, mutual trust and regular dialogue between the leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are giving fresh substance to relations between the two historically close peoples.

The state visit of the President of Tajikistan to Uzbekistan on 26–27 March this year and the first meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council were identified as important milestones that opened new prospects for bilateral cooperation.

Rustami Emomali praised the high standard of organization of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Tashkent last year, and the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, held in Samarkand on 4–6 September this year. He noted that the declarations adopted at these events contribute to parliamentary dialogue and stronger regional cooperation.

Narbayeva, in turn, highlighted the recently held Fourth Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian States in Dushanbe. Discussions at the forum help bring parliamentary positions closer on shared regional issues, facilitate the exchange of experience and identify new areas for cooperation, she said.

The sides also exchanged views on expanding trade and economic ties, developing industrial cooperation, improving transport and border infrastructure, and establishing direct cooperation between Tashkent and Dushanbe. They stressed the importance of broader engagement in cultural, humanitarian and social fields, including education, healthcare and social support for the population.

Following the meeting, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Majlisi milli of the Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan signed a roadmap for cooperation for 2027–2028. Rustami Emomali also made an entry in the Senate’s Book of Distinguished Guests.
