Uzbekistan and Türkiye Discuss New Investment Projects in Ankara
Economy
The Uzbekistan–Türkiye Trade, Economic and Investment Forum was held in Ankara ahead of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s participation in the summit of the Organization of Turkic States. Representatives of both countries discussed expanding trade, attracting investment and advancing joint projects.
The event brought together state and political figures, entrepreneurs, industrial executives and business association representatives. According to Dunyo News Agency, participants stressed that stronger industrial cooperation, modern technologies and joint ventures are essential to taking bilateral ties to a new level.
Promising areas include combining Turkish companies’ manufacturing experience with Uzbekistan’s economic potential, creating jobs and increasing output of export-oriented goods.
A key initiative discussed was the establishment of an Uzbek–Turkish industrial zone in Tashkent, drawing on Türkiye’s OSTİM industrial zone model. The project is valued at nearly $300 million, is planned to cover 100 hectares and is expected to create more than 10,000 jobs. Alongside manufacturing facilities, plans include technology development centres and educational, medical and logistics infrastructure.
Participants also highlighted an initiative to develop a 160-hectare industrial site in Nukus to stimulate investment in the regions. The New Tashkent project offers further opportunities for Turkish investors. In particular, MİMSAN is involved in a $73 million energy facility project, reflecting the expansion of cooperation in energy and modern infrastructure.
Turkish investment in Uzbekistan’s economy has exceeded $8 billion, while more than 2,200 enterprises operate with Turkish capital. These figures point to deepening economic ties and provide a basis for further joint initiatives.
Priorities now include making effective use of countries’ potential, producing higher-value goods, developing industrial clusters and entering foreign markets together. The Ankara forum served as a platform to discuss new investment projects and deepen industrial cooperation for both sides.
