Uzbekistan Crushes Hungary at the World Chess Olympiad

Uzbekistan’s main men’s team secured a commanding 4-0 victory over Hungary in the fifth round of the World Chess Olympiad in Samarkand. Uzbek players won all four games of the match.
Nodirbek Abdusattorov defeated Richard Rapport, Javokhir Sindarov beat Peter Leko, Nodirbek Yakubboev overcame Benjamin Gledura, and Shamsiddin Vokhidov defeated Gleb Dudin. The result gave Uzbekistan a clean sweep across all four boards.
Uzbekistan-2 also recorded a win, defeating the Philippines 2.5-1.5. Abdimalik Abdisalimov secured the team’s only individual victory, while the other three games ended in draws.
Uzbekistan-3 drew 2-2 with Austria. Bakhrom Bakhrillaev lost to Kirill Alekseenko, while Almas Rakhmatullaev and Mukhammadali Abdurakhmonov drew their games. Asrorjon Omonov secured Uzbekistan-3’s only win against Valentin Baidetskyi.
In the women’s competition, Uzbekistan’s main team drew 2-2 with the United States. Afruza Khamdamova defeated Carissa Yip, while Alice Lee beat Gulrukhbegim Tokhirjonova. The other two games ended in draws.
Uzbekistan-2 produced a 4-0 victory over Tunisia, with all four Uzbek players winning their games. Uzbekistan-3 also secured a convincing result, defeating Madagascar 3.5-0.5.
After five rounds, Uzbekistan’s main men’s team has maintained a perfect record with five match victories. The women’s team has recorded four wins and one draw.
The sixth round is scheduled for September 21. The 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad is being held in Samarkand and will continue through September 27.
