Uzbekistan’s national team has completed its campaign at the 20th Asian Summer Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 with 70 medals, finishing fifth in the overall standings. The team won 21 gold, 25 silver and 24 bronze medals.
Uzbek athletes competed alongside nearly 11,000 competitors from 45 Asian countries. The final result placed Uzbekistan among the five strongest teams at the continent’s largest multisport event.
Wrestling was among the country’s strongest disciplines, producing four gold and two bronze medals. Uzbekistan’s men’s boxing team topped the overall team standings, while the country’s judokas and taekwondo athletes finished second behind Japan.
The Asian Games also served as an important test for Uzbekistan’s national teams ahead of the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. With a generational transition taking place across the teams, a number of emerging athletes made their mark, including Shokhsanam Sherzodova, Utkirbek Djurayev, Sita Kadamboyeva, Turabek Khabibullayev, Barnokhon Sayfullayeva, Sharifa Davronova, Aitzhan Khalmakhanov, Jasurbek Jaysunov, Shahzod Nurmatov and Sobir Safaraliyev.
Fifth place marked Uzbekistan’s third consecutive finish in the same position in the overall Asian Games standings. The national team also recorded the best result among Central Asian countries and states members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan congratulated the country’s athletes, coaches, federation specialists and everyone who contributed to the delegation’s successful performance. The committee also thanked the athletes for representing Uzbekistan with distinction throughout Aichi-Nagoya 2026 and giving the public memorable moments of sporting success.
