Uzbekistan’s customs authorities are expanding electronic data exchange with foreign countries to detect potential violations before goods reach the border. The system automatically compares export and import declaration data and generates risk alerts when discrepancies are identified.
As part of the intelligent customs system, electronic exchange of export declaration information has been established with a number of foreign countries. The data received is automatically matched against information provided in import declarations filed in Uzbekistan.
If the system detects discrepancies, it generates a risk alert. Depending on the results of the analysis, additional inspection of the shipment or a customs audit may be ordered.
The approach allows potential violations to be identified before goods arrive at the border. This enables customs authorities to focus their attention on foreign trade operations that require additional control.
The Customs Committee says the system is also intended to prevent attempts to evade customs payments. At the same time, its use is aimed at creating equal conditions for businesses that comply with established requirements.

The system is designed to help customs authorities identify higher-risk transactions before goods reach the border, while directing additional checks toward operations requiring closer examination.
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan’s customs officers would be officially allowed to use unmanned aerial vehicles as part of efforts to combat smuggling.
