Uzbekistan Railways Holds Strategic Talks at InnoTrans 2026

Uzbekistan Railways JSC held a series of talks with leading international companies and railway administrations during InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin. The discussions focused on infrastructure modernization, rolling stock development, localization of service and manufacturing projects, digitalization and professional training.
One of the key meetings was held with representatives of the European Commission. Peteris Ustubs, Director for Asia, Central Asia and the Pacific, highlighted Uzbekistan’s active participation in the exhibition and said the European Union was ready to support the development of the country’s railway sector.
Talks with Chinese rail manufacturer CRRC Corporation Limited covered ongoing projects, including technical support for new trains and locomotive procurement. The parties also considered establishing an innovative service center for locomotive repair and maintenance at Uzbekistan Railways’ industrial facilities, as well as launching production of modern freight wagons capable of changing gauge.
The Uzbek delegation also met with Hyundai Rotem. The sides agreed to modify the two end cars of high-speed trains by replacing business-class seats with VIP seats and tables, with one such car planned for each trainset. They also discussed a new contract for eight high-speed electric trains, with a VIP car featuring modern capsule-style seats to be included in each trainset. The final configuration and technical specifications will be developed during the preparation of technical documentation.
Uzbekistan Railways also discussed potential participation in future projects to modernize Serbia’s railway lines. Agreements with Deutsche Bahn covered professional training for Uzbek railway specialists and joint research projects.
Further meetings were held with Huawei, Lithuanian Railways, Estonian Railways, Latvian Railways and Škoda Group. The talks addressed digitalization, innovation and the exchange of experience in operating railway equipment under different climatic conditions.
