Uzbekistan Representatives Take Part in International Space Summit in Paris

Uzbekistan representatives took part in the first International Space Summit, held on September 9–10 at the Grand Palais in Paris on the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron. The event brought together representatives of 90 countries and international organizations, nearly 60 senior government officials, more than 1,000 space companies and 19 prominent astronauts from 14 countries.
Uzbekistan was represented by Bobur Khodjayev, Head of the Department for Financial Technologies, Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence at the Presidential Administration, Digital Technologies Minister Sherzod Shermatov, as well as representatives of the Uzbekkosmos agency. The delegation held a number of meetings and negotiations focused on exchanging best practices, exploring new areas of cooperation and discussing prospective projects in the space sector.
The summit programme featured addresses by French President Emmanuel Macron, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and other senior officials. Roundtables were held on space development, security and future infrastructure, alongside panel discussions on the global space economy, security and cooperation, and science and research.
A separate session focused on African leaders’ vision for the space sector. The programme also included a live communication session with the International Space Station involving French astronaut Sophie Adenot and a presentation by the European Space Agency.
The summit brought together prominent astronauts from 14 countries, including Thomas Pesquet, Samantha Cristoforetti, Luca Parmitano, Alexander Gerst, Matthias Maurer, Sultan Al Neyadi and Alper Gezeravcı. The event provided a platform for exchanging expertise and developing new international partnerships in the space sector.
