Uzbekistan to Take Part in CIS-SCO Counter-Terrorism Forum in Minsk
Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan will take part in the CIS-SCO Counter-Terrorism Forum, which will be held in Minsk on October 7–8, 2026. The forum will combine two international conferences with joint counter-terrorism exercises involving the competent authorities of CIS and SCO member states.
The programme includes the fourth CIS Conference on Countering Terrorism and Extremism and the 12th International Scientific and Practical Conference of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure. Delegations from 28 countries, representatives of 17 CIS and SCO bodies and 10 international organizations have been invited.
Participants will focus on current security threats, including how changes in different regions affect the spread of terrorist and extremist threats. They will also exchange national experience in addressing these challenges.
Separate sessions will cover international counter-terrorism cooperation, improving legal and practical mechanisms for cooperation, training scientific and educational personnel, countering terrorist financing and information-based measures against terrorism.
On October 8, the forum will include the force phase of the final stages of the joint CIS-SCO counter-terrorism exercises “Eurasia-Counter-Terror 2026.” The exercise will be conducted in a combined format involving an interstate special forces contingent.
Uzbekistan is already involved in preparations for the exercise. In September, experts from the country’s competent authorities participated in a practical session in Minsk. The exercise itself is being conducted in three stages across Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
