This will be the third meeting between the teams: previously, in 2018 and 2019, Uzbekistan lost with the same score 0:3. The new game will give the team the opportunity to demonstrate progress and test their readiness for the high standards of world football.
The head coach of the Uzbekistan national team, Timur Kapadze, who led the team to the World Cup, is building a rich training program. In addition to Uruguay, another friendly match is scheduled for October against Argentina, the current world champions.
The Uruguay national team is a historical football giant: winner of the first two World Cups (1930, 1950), two-time Olympic champion (1924, 1928), and record holder of the Copa America title (15).
