Uzbekistan Wins 18 Medals in a Single Day at the Asian Championships

Uzbekistan’s national team won 18 medals in a single competition day at the Asian Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championships — seven gold, six silver and five bronze. Among the winners was Hikmatillo Haydarov, who took gold in the snatch in the 85kg youth category and set a new Asian youth record.
Haydarov successfully completed all three of his snatch attempts, lifting 153kg, 158kg and 161kg. His final lift set a new Asian youth record. He also won silver in the total and bronze in the clean and jerk in the same weight category.
Shahnoza Haydarova was the most decorated Uzbek athlete of the day. In the 69kg junior category, she won gold in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total. In the youth competition, she also took gold in the snatch and total, while winning silver in the clean and jerk.
In the junior 85kg category, Otabek Karimov won gold in the snatch and bronze medals in the clean and jerk and total. Azizbek Qutbiddinov, competing in the same weight category, earned silver in the clean and jerk and total, as well as bronze in the snatch.
In the junior 69kg category, Nurhayot Kobilova added silver medals in the clean and jerk and total, along with bronze in the snatch.
Overall, Uzbek athletes collected seven gold, six silver and five bronze medals during the day.
