Uzbekistan’s Air Cargo Volume Rises 182% in Five Years

Uzbekistan’s air cargo volume increased by 182% between 2019 and 2024, making the country one of the fastest-growing air freight markets in Central Asia. Jamoliddin Nazarov, head of the Air Transport Department at Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport, announced the figures at the Central Asia Air Cargo III international summit in Tashkent.
In 2025, airports across Uzbekistan handled 98,000 tonnes of cargo. During the first half of 2026, air cargo volumes increased by a further 33%.
The two-day summit brings together representatives of airlines, airports and transport companies. Discussions focus on increasing cargo volumes, introducing international standards, developing infrastructure, digital transformation and strengthening Central Asia’s role in the global air cargo system.
According to Nazarov, Uzbekistan’s geographical position, open-skies policy and aviation reforms create opportunities to turn the country into a regional air cargo hub. Projects are being implemented to develop a cargo hub at Navoi International Airport, build new cargo terminals and attract international airlines.
The summit is also addressing air transport logistics and new business opportunities. The event brings together airlines, airports, freight forwarders, logistics service providers and technology companies.
Uzbekistan has set a target of increasing air cargo volumes to 300,000 tonnes by 2036. Key priorities include developing airport infrastructure, expanding logistics capacity and introducing international standards.
“Uzbekistan is open to international air cargo market participants and offers new opportunities,” Jamoliddin Nazarov said.
