Uzbekistan's Experience Recognized as Exemplary in Belgrade

Uzbekistan has emerged among the global leaders in the pace of advancing gender equality within public governance. At the Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians in Belgrade, which convened delegates from 65 countries, Tashkent's extensive legal reforms were recognized as an international benchmark. Senate Chairwoman Tanzila Narbaeva presented the forum with the specific mechanisms that enabled the republic to achieve an unprecedented electoral and social leap in prestigious global rankings.
An Uzbek parliamentary delegation led by Tanzila Narbaeva participated in the Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians in Serbia. Speaking at a specialized session, the Senate Chairwoman delivered a report on Tashkent's comprehensive reforms aimed at eradicating gender stereotypes, incrementally protecting women from violence, and actively integrating them into business, education, and high technologies. Special emphasis was placed on developing a talent pool to prepare women for leadership roles.
The international community recognized Uzbekistan's track record as advanced. Driven by systemic state policy and rigorous monitoring by the National Commission, the share of women in the national parliament has reached 38%. This milestone enabled the republic to make a powerful surge upward by 92 positions in the Inter-Parliamentary Union rankings, securing 36th place globally. Narbaeva emphasized that dismantling stereotypes directly influences the quality of public administration and sustainable development. Concluding the visit, the delegation announced the structure's next major forum—the Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, scheduled to be held in Samarkand on September 4–6, 2026.
