A significant milestone in Uzbekistan’s foreign policy was marked on April 14, 2025, when the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Baxtiyor Ibragimov, presented his credentials to the Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović. This event signifies the official beginning of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During the meeting that followed the ceremonial presentation, Baxtiyor Ibragimov and Željka Cvijanović discussed prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in trade, economy, culture, and tourism, placing special emphasis on deepening the partnership.

The Chair of the Presidency praised the wide-ranging reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan. She acknowledged that the policy of openness and modernization pursued under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is gaining growing confidence among international partners.

Baxtiyor Ibragimov is a seasoned diplomat who has previously served successfully as ambassador to several European countries — Austria, Albania, and Slovakia. He has also been accredited as Uzbekistan’s official representative to prominent international organizations based in Vienna, including the OSCE, UNODC, IAEA, and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).
