Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry Condemns Attempted Drone Attack Toward Mecca

Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned an attempted drone attack directed toward the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. On September 16, Saudi authorities said a drone had been intercepted and destroyed before entering Mecca’s restricted airspace.
In its statement, Uzbekistan expressed full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and stressed that any actions threatening holy sites, civilians or civilian infrastructure are unacceptable.
Tashkent called on all sides to exercise maximum restraint, strictly comply with international law, and respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states.
Uzbekistan also voiced support for efforts aimed at reducing tensions, preventing the further spread of the conflict and ensuring peace, security and stability in the region.
In an earlier statement, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry likewise stressed that emerging disputes should be resolved exclusively through political and diplomatic means based on dialogue and mutual respect.
