Uzbekistan’s Gold and Foreign Exchange Reserves Reach $64.34 Billion
According to data from the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the price of gold increased from $4,016.7 to $4,052.2 per troy ounce over the month. This added approximately $490 million to the value of the reserves.

At the same time, the physical volume of gold held in reserves edged down from 13.9 million to 13.8 million troy ounces. The increase in the value of the gold component was therefore primarily driven by the rise in its market price.

The foreign-currency component of the reserves increased by $208.6 million in July. Meanwhile, the Central Bank significantly reduced its securities holdings, from $2.86 billion to $1.76 billion, a decline of approximately $1.1 billion.

As a result, Uzbekistan’s total international reserves increased by nearly $0.6 billion over the month despite the decline in the physical volume of gold and the securities portfolio. The increase was driven primarily by the higher value of gold.

The Central Bank regularly publishes data on the country’s international reserves. The indicator covers official reserve assets, including foreign-currency assets and gold.
