According to the CIA, per capita alcohol consumption in Uzbekistan averages 2.45 liters per year. According to this indicator, the country is located close to the UAE. The Cook Islands, Latvia and the Czech Republic led the top three.
The Central Intelligence Agency of the United States (CIA) has compiled a rating of countries whose residents consume the most alcohol. 189 countries participate in the ranking, and the data are taken at the end of 2019. The top three of the list turned out to be not the most predictable, despite widespread stereotypes.
On the first line is the island state of the Cook Islands, where a person consumes an average of 12.97 liters of pure alcohol per year. Latvia took second place with 12.9 liters of booze per year. The greatest preference was given to strong alcoholic beverages, then beer, followed by wine and other alcoholic beverages.
The third place was taken by the Czech Republic, where the average alcohol consumption per capital was 12.73 liters of pure alcohol. Beer is the favorite, followed by spirits, and wine takes second place.
Uzbekistan ranked 124th out of 189, consuming a total of 2.45 liters of pure alcohol per year. Sri Lanka, Venezuela, Nauru, Namibia and the UAE are located nearby.
It is noteworthy that Russia took 56th place with 7.29 liters of pure alcohol consumption per year. Among the interesting things in the ranking: the UK took 24th place, the USA - 35th, Ukraine - 77th, Kyrgyzstan - 96th, Kazakhstan - 100th, Turkmenistan - 117th, UAE - 130th, Azerbaijan — 142nd, and Turkey - 148th.
Bangladesh, Kuwait, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia and Somalia closed the list — in these countries, the average number of liters of pure alcohol consumed per person per year is zero.
