Sport
World Championship silver medallist in artistic swimming Anastasia Bakhtyreva will represent Uzbekistan. Violetta Evenko has also changed her sporting affiliation and will compete for the Uzbek national team.
World Aquatics has approved the change in both athletes’ sporting status. Bakhtyreva and Evenko are currently training with Uzbekistan’s national team and preparing to compete in the women’s duet event.
Uzbek athlete Sabina Makhmudova will serve as the reserve member of the duet. The women’s duet lineup will therefore consist of two main athletes and one reserve competitor.
Coach Yulia Miteva has been brought into the preparation process. She has 19 years of experience in high-performance sport and will work with the athletes as they prepare for upcoming competitions.
The next major event for Uzbekistan’s artistic swimming team will be the Asian Games in Aichi–Nagoya. Bakhtyreva and Evenko are currently training with the national squad ahead of the continental competition.
The athletes’ change of sporting affiliation strengthens Uzbekistan’s options in artistic swimming ahead of the Asian Games and expands the national team’s lineup for the women’s duet event.
