Preparations for the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), to be held in Baku from May 17–22, 2026, have entered their final stage. A video from the Baku Olympic Stadium (BOS) showcases the scale of preparations. The forum will gather experts, architects, urban planners, and community representatives from around the world.

WUF13 in Baku: Urban Revolution Begins
The main theme of WUF13 is “Housing the world: Safe and resilient cities and communities.” The forum focuses on global housing challenges, upgrading informal settlements, post-crisis housing recovery, and climate-related urban planning. Its goals include sharing best practices, raising awareness about sustainable urbanization, and strengthening coordination between governments, experts, businesses, and civil society.

WUF13 will feature high-level dialogues, thematic sessions, partner events, and a large Urban Expo where cities and companies display solutions for sustainable development. Thousands of participants are expected, including national and local officials, urban planners, architects, businesses, academia, and community activists. Recommendations from WUF13 will contribute to the UN Secretary-General’s report on the New Urban Agenda 2026.

The World Urban Forum has been held since 2002 in various countries and is a leading global platform on urban issues. WUF13 in Baku continues discussions on safe, inclusive, and resilient cities, following WUF12 in Cairo (2024) and WUF11 in Katowice (2022).

The forum is organized by UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme).
