President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited a cotton field in the Guzar district, where the enterprise "Qashqadaryo Jingu" is cultivating the crop using the "Xinjiang method."

Xinjiang Method Boosts Efficiency in Cotton Farming
The head of state was briefed on the technologies employed for sowing seeds, irrigation, and crop care. Across an area of 2,200 hectares, cotton seeds have been sown in double rows under plastic film, with irrigation provided entirely through a drip irrigation system.

The plastic film helps retain moisture and heat in the soil, ensuring early and uniform germination. The drip irrigation system delivers water and fertilizers directly to the plant roots. As a result, water consumption is reduced by 30–40 percent, and fertilizer usage by nearly 30 percent. The crop matures 10–15 days earlier than it would using traditional cultivation methods.

The President inspected the cotton crop and the organization of the agrotechnical operations. While traditional methods typically yield 30–35 centners of cotton per hectare, the Xinjiang technology allows this figure to increase to 60–70 centners. At this enterprise, the yield stands at 55 centners per hectare, with a total harvest reaching 12,300 tons.

Agricultural drones are also being utilized in the field operations, which helps accelerate specific agrotechnical tasks and reduces fuel consumption. The operations of the "Qashqadaryo Jingu" agro-cluster, established with the involvement of Chinese investment, span 18,300 hectares across the Kasan, Nishan, Guzar, Kukdala, and Mirishkor districts. A significant portion of this land previously consisted of undeveloped desert terrain and abandoned plots. The project has attracted $128 million in investment and created 50 jobs, with export volume reaching $8.5 million.

At the same location, the head of state was also briefed on ongoing agricultural initiatives in the region.
