“Youth Are the Builders of the Future!”: Winners of the 5th International Environmental Congress Announced

The 5th International Environmental Congress, titled “Youth Are the Builders of the Future!”, was held in Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya Region to mark the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence. The event brought together young environmental activists from eight foreign countries as well as representatives from all regions of Uzbekistan.
The congress took place at the Lochin camp in Shahrisabz District. Participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Russia and Belarus joined their Uzbek counterparts in seminars focused on strengthening environmental awareness and sharing practical experience.
The educational programme featured representatives of the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change, the Committee’s Public Council, the Zamin International Public Foundation, scientific and educational institutions, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Association of Volunteers of Uzbekistan.
Winners were selected in a series of intellectual, environmental and sporting competitions. In the international “What? Where? When?” quiz, Belarus took first place, followed by Uzbekistan and Russia. In the international “Kahoot” competition, Türkiye ranked first, Belarus second and Kazakhstan third.
In the “Best Environmental Project” category for foreign teams, Turkmenistan took first place, Russia second and Kyrgyzstan third. In the “Friendship of Nations” dance festival, Kazakhstan won the top spot among international participants, followed by Belarus and Turkmenistan.
At the “Qurultoy Expo” exhibition, Russia took first place among foreign teams, Azerbaijan second, while Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan shared third place. Among Uzbek participants, Khorezm Region ranked first, Tashkent second and Syrdarya Region third.
The Youth Spartakiad was won by Tashkent Region, with Navoi Region taking second place and Fergana Region third.
The congress was aimed at increasing young people’s engagement in environmental initiatives, supporting promising ecological projects and involving youth in developing solutions to environmental challenges.
