Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded U.S. First Lady Melania Trump the Order of Princess Olga, 1st Class. Decree No. 1079/2026, dated November 2, was published on the Ukrainian president’s official website. The award recognizes her contribution to humanitarian support for Ukraine and activities aimed at helping Ukrainian children and civilians affected by Russia’s aggression.
The decree cites Trump’s human rights advocacy and charitable work, including efforts to rescue children and citizens who were unlawfully deported or forcibly transferred from Ukrainian territories temporarily occupied by Russia. The stated grounds refer to her personal contribution to humanitarian support for the country.
Marc Beckman, the U.S. first lady’s special senior adviser, was also awarded the Golden Heart distinction. According to Ukraine’s Ukrinform news agency, he was recognized for his personal contribution to humanitarian assistance for Ukrainian citizens and for supporting efforts to rescue and evacuate civilians from temporarily occupied territories.
The awards come after a humanitarian operation in Oleshky, in Ukraine’s Kherson region. In late October, Russia and Ukraine agreed to a localized ceasefire to allow aid deliveries and the evacuation of residents. The diplomatic efforts involved Melania Trump and Pope Leo XIV. Reuters reported that the U.S. first lady helped facilitate the agreement; residents were able to choose their preferred evacuation destinations.
The Order of Princess Olga, 1st Class, is a Ukrainian state award presented to women for outstanding achievements in public service, industry, civic activity, science, education, culture, charity and other fields, as well as for raising children in the family. Foreign recipients have included Moldovan President Maia Sandu, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, former Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola.
The decree thus recognizes Melania Trump’s humanitarian work and her involvement in efforts to provide assistance to Ukraine’s population today.
