At the beginning of the discussion, President Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for the warm welcome and sincerely congratulated him on the remarkable success of the “Madani” national strategy.

The two leaders reviewed ways to further expand and strengthen friendly and partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Malaysia.

It was noted that Prime Minister Ibrahim’s historic visit to Uzbekistan in May last year significantly accelerated the development of multifaceted relations between the two countries.

Political dialogue and interparliamentary cooperation have intensified, while mutual trade volume, the number of joint enterprises, and flight connections have increased.

Last year saw the successful first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, the establishment of the Business Council, and several major business forums.

Ahead of the visit, meetings of analytical centers, presentations on Uzbekistan’s tourism potential and cultural heritage, and a forum of university rectors were held.

A decision was made to establish a Strategic Dialogue Platform for Foreign Ministers to efficiently coordinate the implementation of high-level agreements.

The importance of continued mutual support within the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and other international structures was highlighted.

Practical trade, economic, and investment cooperation were given special focus.

An agreement was reached to develop a Preferential Trade Agreement, hold joint industrial exhibitions, and adopt an Industrial Cooperation Program to increase trade turnover.

The Malaysian government actively supports Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The leaders agreed to declare 2025–2026 as the period of innovative development of the Uzbekistan-Malaysia partnership.

New priority areas for economic cooperation were identified, including petrochemicals, the chemical industry, electronics and semiconductors, innovative manufacturing, smart agriculture, green energy, pilgrimage tourism, and more.

To support cooperation projects, a special economic zone is being established in Tashkent region under the management of a leading Malaysian company.

Both state leaders emphasized the importance of continued cultural and humanitarian exchanges, with Cultural Weeks set to take place in Uzbekistan and Malaysia this year.

The leaders also exchanged views on pressing regional cooperation issues, emphasizing the need for joint efforts to combat terrorism, radicalism, and Islamophobia.

At the conclusion of the negotiations, it was decided to develop a “roadmap” for the timely and effective implementation of the agreements reached.

Finally, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan.
