On March 13, the 3rd Rectors’ Forum of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan universities took place in Dushanbe, serving as a key platform to strengthen cooperation in education, science, and innovation.

The forum was hosted at the S. Aini Tajik State Pedagogical University and gathered education ministers, university rectors, scientists, and experts from both countries. Opening speakers included Tajikistan’s Minister of Education Rahim Saidzoda, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation Kongratbay Sharipov, and Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan Ergash Shoismatov.

Discussions focused on higher education reforms, the development of scientific research and innovation, and prospects for academic cooperation. The 2018 intergovernmental agreement was highlighted as a milestone in bilateral university collaboration.

Currently, over 100 cooperation agreements and memoranda operate between universities of both countries. Joint programs support student training and academic exchange. Over 700 Tajik students are currently enrolled in Uzbek universities.

The plenary session emphasized expanding joint educational programs, conducting collaborative research, and promoting exchanges of students and faculty.
