Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov ranked 122nd in the global ranking of the richest people in the world compiled by Forbes.

According to the publication, the entrepreneur's fortune increased by $2.9 billion compared to 2022 to $14.4 billion.

The largest holding of the 69-year-old billionaire is the iron ore and steel giant Metalloinvest. He also owns shares in Chinese electronics manufacturer Xiaomi and other telecommunications, mining and media companies.

“He made his early fortune making plastic bags, which are so scarce in the former Soviet Union that people wash them and reuse them,” the Forbes review said.

For reference, Alisher Usmanov from 2000 to 2014 headed Gazprom Investholding, a subsidiary of the state conglomerate Gazprom.
