50 Nations Unite in Uzbekistan Against Global Drug Trafficking
Uzbekistan
Ancient Samarkand has become the epicenter of the global fight against transnational crime. Today, the international forum "Combating Transnational Drug Threats for the Sake of Public Health and Safety" officially opened, bringing together the world's elite expert community under the auspices of Uzbekistan.
This unprecedented event has united representatives from over 50 nations and more than 500 leading international specialists. The participation of delegates from esteemed organizations such as the UN, Interpol, the European Union, the CIS, and the SCO underscores the forum's immense significance. At the start of the session, a welcoming address from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was delivered to the participants, highlighting the vital role of international cooperation in protecting the future of coming generations.
A key highlight of the opening was the ceremony honoring international leaders for their service. For their outstanding contributions to strengthening global security, the heads of several major organizations were awarded the specially established Uzbek badge of honor, "Narkotiklarga qarshi kurashish fidoiysi" (Dedicated Fighter Against Drugs).
Over the coming days, participants will develop new mechanisms to counter drug trafficking, discuss the integration of artificial intelligence into customs and law enforcement operations, and strengthen rehabilitation and prevention systems. Hosting a forum of this magnitude confirms Uzbekistan's status as a key moderator in regional and international security issues.
