Afghanistan has asked Uzbekistan to reduce transit fees
Afghanistan is increasingly using Uzbek roads for trade and transit with Central Asian countries. However, the transit fee for Afghan goods on this route is higher than on other routes. The Taliban government's Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar said this at a meeting with a delegation led by Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojaev.

According to Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, in order for there to be a balanced trade balance between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, it is desirable that Afghanistan's exports to Uzbekistan increase significantly, and in this regard Uzbekistan should consider special preferential tariffs for Afghanistan. Transit fees for Afghan cargoes are higher than other routes, which should be reduced.

During his speech, Jamshid Khojaev said Uzbekistan is ready to cooperate with Afghanistan in agriculture, transport, railways, trade, transit, water and mining.

He noted that the Uzbek side has created a map of trade routes to increase Afghanistan's exports to Uzbekistan. The volume of trade turnover between the two countries is about three billion dollars, he said.
