Agricultural Products Will Now Be Grown in Cities
Uzbekistan
Agricultural products are planned to be cultivated in front of multi-story buildings and on the inner streets of neighborhoods.
On December 30, 2024, Presidential Decree No. PQ-465, "On Measures to Increase Production by Utilizing Additional Opportunities in Agricultural Lands," was adopted.
According to the decree, a new system will be introduced to improve agricultural production on field edges, household plots, in front of residential and multi-story buildings, and on the inner streets of neighborhoods:
Organization of agricultural production:
The Agency for Plant Quarantine and Protection will be tasked with growing crops on field edges, household plots, in front of houses and multi-story buildings, and on neighborhood streets. It will also supply seeds and seedlings to agricultural entities and facilitate the export of produced goods.
The agency will study the demands of fruit and vegetable exporters for cultivating profitable crops throughout the year and exporting them.
Support for farmers efficiently using field edges for agricultural production:
Internal phytosanitary certificates will be issued free of charge for one year.
Subsidies will be provided from the State Targeted Fund for Agricultural Development and Support to cover 50% of the cost of "in-vitro" propagated fruit rootstock seedlings, but not exceeding 25,000 UZS per seedling.
