President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced at the plenary session of the Astana International Forum that a CryptoCity experimental zone will be created in Kazakhstan, where cryptocurrencies can be used for payments for goods and services. This step became part of the country's large-scale digital transformation and ambitious plans to transform Kazakhstan into a Eurasian IT hub.

On May 29, 2025, at the opening of the plenary session of the Astana International Forum held in the capital of Kazakhstan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced the launch of the innovative pilot zone CryptoCity in the country.

"We plan to create an innovative CryptoCity pilot zone, where cryptocurrencies can be used to purchase goods, services, and for other purposes," Tokayev stated.

According to him, the project will become part of the state strategy for expanding the digital economy and introducing advanced technologies.

The President also emphasized that Kazakhstan has made significant progress in digital transformation and aims to become a Eurasian IT hub. In particular, the most powerful supercomputer has already been brought to the country, which is planned to be launched in the near future.

"We are investing in human capital, expanding opportunities for young professionals. Our primary task is to reduce regional disparities and strengthen the middle class," the head of state noted.

Special attention, according to the president, is being paid to artificial intelligence, clean energy, and high-value-added industries. Kazakhstan plans to become an academic and innovation hub, where branches of foreign universities and research centers will operate.

The theme of this year's Astana International Forum, held on May 29-30, is "Connecting minds, shaping the future."
