The revitalization of classic literary and statesmanship heritage as an intellectual foundation for overcoming contemporary transboundary crises is becoming an effective mechanism for strengthening regional identity and trust in Central Asia. The jubilee edition of the International Issyk-Kul Forum, established 40 years ago at the initiative of the eminent writer and thinker Chingiz Aitmatov, was held in the city of Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic.
The global discourse, themed "The World at a Civilizational Turning Point: Together into the Future," was attended by Sodiq Safoev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, alongside governmental and expert delegations from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, the United Kingdom, Japan, Italy, Spain, and representatives of leading international organizations.
Speaking at the panel session, Sodiq Safoev emphasized that in an era of profound geopolitical transformations and spiritual trials, Aitmatov’s concepts of historical memory, humanism, and intercultural dialogue acquire a renewed practical significance. The Uzbek side placed special emphasis on the close nexus between the writer’s philosophical legacy and contemporary political dynamics in the region. It was noted that due to the consolidated political will of the heads of state, Central Asia is successfully transforming into a space of stability and shared development. The forum participants reached a consensus that the shared history, culture, and values of the region's nations serve as a robust cornerstone for forging a unified Central Asian identity and intensifying interparliamentary ties.
