According to the Kamran Gulamov, the rector of the university, the name change strategically corresponds to the goal of the university - to become a leader in research, innovation and academic advantages not only in Uzbekistan, but also abroad.
Since June 26, 2023, the name "AKFA University" has changed to "Central Asian University (CAU)". This was announced by the rector of the university. According to him, this strategic decision is part of measures aimed at developing CAU, as well as making it an advanced and leading educational institution in Central Asia.
"The reason for the renaming was the fact that over the past period many students from Central Asia have expressed their trust in us and entered our university, established cooperation with leading universities in the world, and also implemented internationally recognized standards in higher education. As a logical continuation of this large-scale work, we strive to further support an academic environment with inclusive and culturally diverse, which thrives on the basis of cooperation, innovation and knowledge sharing," says K. Gulamov, the rector of the university.

"Central Asia is rapidly becoming an important region, and we believe that the Central Asian University is an innovative, technological educational center that promotes development in Central Asia and beyond. We will stick to our goal of providing our students with the best knowledge and educational experience during these reforms. In order to strictly follow our new development plans, we will continue our work to improve our educational programs, attract the best professors and teachers, as well as develop modern infrastructure," says the rector.
