After two years of negotiations, Baku and Yerevan finalized the draft peace agreement. However, the timing of its signing has not yet been determined.

Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed on a draft peace agreement
The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries officially confirmed that all points of the document have been agreed upon. The Armenian Foreign Ministry's statement says the country is ready to discuss the date and place of signing with Azerbaijan.

The head of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Jeyhun Bayramov, clarified that Armenia accepted Baku's proposals on the last two contentious points. Now Azerbaijan is expecting amendments to the Armenian constitution, which, according to him, still contains territorial claims.

The process of approving the document has been ongoing since the autumn of 2023, when the region came under full Azerbaijani control after the military operation in Nagorno-Karabakh. At the end of February, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reported that the parties had agreed on 15 out of 17 points, but could not agree on the placement of troops from third countries and the consideration of disputes in international courts.

Now it remains to resolve the last issue - when and where the heads of the two states will sign the historic agreement.
