The Biden administration announced a significant expansion of immigration relief on Tuesday, allowing undocumented immigrants married to U.S. citizens to stay and work legally. This was reported by The Hill newspaper.
“The announcement to be made by the Biden administration today is the most significant positive immigration policy change in the last 12 years,” said one of Congress’s most active pro-immigrant advocates.
“The purpose of this process is to facilitate the adjustment of status process domestically, to avoid people having to travel abroad and be separated from their family if they are otherwise eligible to adjust,” an administration official told reporters Monday.
Biden’s action also benefits undocumented college graduates by providing necessary waivers for work visas.
