Bishkek Prepares to Welcome Leaders of 21 States for SCO Summit and Nomad Games

Kyrgyzstan is completing preparations for a series of international events scheduled to take place in Bishkek from August 30 to September 1. During this period, the capital will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, meetings in the “SCO+” format and the opening ceremony of the VI World Nomad Games.

According to the Kyrgyz side, the country is expected to receive the leaders of 21 states, with some arriving together with their spouses. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has also invited the leaders of the Organisation of Turkic States, as well as the presidents of Egypt and Turkmenistan, to attend the World Nomad Games as honorary guests.

The SCO summit is expected to bring together representatives of all 10 member states, including Uzbekistan. Earlier, SCO foreign ministers held a meeting in Kyrgyzstan focused on preparations for the leaders’ summit. Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov took part in that meeting.

The VI World Nomad Games will be held in Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 6. The opening ceremony is scheduled for August 31 in Bishkek, while the main competitions will continue around Lake Issyk-Kul.

The final list of heads of state and their spouses attending the events is expected to be announced once the schedules of the foreign delegations have been fully coordinated.
