Bukhara to host the II Asian Women’s Forum
On April 2, a meeting of the Organizing Committee for the preparation of the II Asian Women’s Forum was held at the Senate of the Oliy Majlis. The meeting was chaired by Tanzila Narbaeva. Senators, representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, as well as non-governmental non-profit organizations took part in the discussion.

It was noted that the initiative to grant the forum the status of a permanent international platform was put forward by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in September 2025.

In accordance with these proposals, the forum will be held on May 13–15 in Bukhara in cooperation with UN Women and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The forum will focus on expanding women’s empowerment in politics, the economy, healthcare, and education, as well as in social protection, environmental, climate, and governance sectors.

An active exchange of international experience and the strengthening of regional cooperation are expected.

The forum will also serve as a platform to present reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, including measures to support women, develop entrepreneurship, increase employment, and improve social protection.

Special attention will be given to the implementation of international commitments, including the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, UN Security Council Resolution 1325, the Beijing Declaration, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

During the meeting, organizational issues, the forum agenda, and preparations for bilateral meetings with foreign delegations were reviewed.

Following the meeting, responsible agencies were tasked with ensuring that the event is held at a high level.
