Collins dictionary named AI as the word of 2023

According to the Collins English Dictionary, the word AI (artificial intelligence) is recognised as the word of 2023. This is reported on the dictionary's website.

"Artificial intelligence - a term describing the modelling of human mental functions with the help of computer programs," stated in the message.

The creators of the dictionary noted the rapid development of artificial intelligence in 2023 and called it "the next technological revolution". Collins dictionary added that AI can not only mimic human speech, but also write text for a presentation, come up with a recipe for dinner and more.

The shortlist also included the words deinfluencing, nepo baby and canon event.
