Construction of a Unique Islamic Center Nears Completion in Tashkent
Uzbekistan
On January 29, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, where construction has entered its final stage. This unique complex will serve not only as a repository of invaluable artifacts but also as an intellectual hub uniting history, science, and education.
The Center for Islamic Civilization has been under construction in Tashkent since 2018 at the initiative of the head of state. Designed in a traditional architectural style, the building will house the ancient Mushaf of Uthman, rare handwritten Qurans, and valuable artifacts of Islamic culture.
According to the president, the center’s main goal is not just to preserve heritage but to integrate it into scientific research and make it accessible to a broad audience, especially young people. The exhibition will cover key periods of Islamic civilization, including the First and Second Renaissances.
Special attention is given to the contributions of Uzbek scholars and thinkers such as Al-Khwarizmi, Ibn Sina, Mirzo Ulugbek, and Imam Bukhari, as well as outstanding women of the past. The center plans active collaboration with international scientific organizations, including UNESCO and ICESCO.
Additionally, the president reviewed tourism development projects in Tashkent. The city is introducing new tourist routes, themed streets, and gastronomic clusters, which will help boost visitor numbers and create thousands of new jobs.
