December 15 declared World Turkic Languages Day
The new international observance aims to promote the preservation and global recognition of Turkic languages, which represent a vast cultural and historical heritage shared by millions across the world.

According to the Dunyo news agency, the chosen date — December 15 — marks a major moment in linguistic history: on this day in 1893, Danish scholar Vilhelm Thomsen announced his decipherment of the Orkhon inscriptions, among the earliest written records of Turkic civilization.

The initiative highlights the growing importance of cultural and linguistic cooperation among Turkic-speaking nations within the framework of UNESCO.
